The changes are aimed at expanding the range of labeled biologically active food supplements and improving the labeling system in this product group.

According to the draft, from September 1, 2025, the list of dietary supplements that must be labeled will be supplemented with new product categories. It is also proposed to ban the circulation of unlabeled dietary supplements produced or imported to Russia before the new requirements come into force from August 31, 2026, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported.

"Taking into account the requests of market participants, as well as the analysis of law enforcement practice, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has developed a number of amendments to the rules for labeling the specified product group, aimed at expanding the range of labeled dietary supplements and improving the labeling system in this product group. Thus, from September 1, 2025, it is proposed to expand the list of dietary supplements that are subject to labeling, supplementing it with new categories of goods," the department said in a statement.

In addition, the draft resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation provides for the introduction of a ban on the circulation of unmarked dietary supplements produced or imported into the Russian Federation before the date of entry into force of the relevant mandatory requirements from August 31, 2026. The department emphasized that such a measure will minimize the risks of illegal dietary supplements with an unreliable expiration date appearing on the market.

In February 2025, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry approached the Federal Antimonopoly Service with a proposal to strengthen control over the remote sale of dietary supplements. The measure was dictated by the growing risks of the distribution of counterfeit products and illegal drugs under the guise of dietary supplements through Internet platforms. Representatives of specialized organizations have repeatedly spoken about the detection of violations in the sale of such drugs.
