Mishustin: "The Share of Domestic Vital and Essential Drugs Must Increase to 90%

The Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin announced such tasks while speaking at the marathon of the Znanie society
According to Mikhail Mishustin, in order to provide people with quality medical care, we need our own effective medicines. His words were quoted by TASS.
"The share of domestic production of vital and essential drugs should increase to 90%, and medical products to 40%. The main task is to make advanced approaches to prevention and treatment more accessible to citizens," the prime minister said.
During the marathon, Mishustin also mentioned the national project "New Health Preservation Technologies". According to him, it will help coordinate efforts in the area of preserving the country's population, strengthen support for research and the production of drugs for the treatment of oncology, acute myocardial infarction, pain syndrome, lung damage, and diabetes.
“Our specialists will more actively introduce biomedical cell products and products based on tissue engineering into clinical practice,” the prime minister added.
Mishustin emphasized that special attention will be paid to genomic technologies for diagnostics and therapy, regenerative medicine. The latest direction will be the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, including to help doctors make decisions.
Mishustin spoke about plans to significantly increase the production of critically important medicines in Russia within the framework of the national project “New Health Saving Technologies” in 2024. According to him, it is necessary to increase the share of domestic production of medicines from the list of vital and essential drugs to 90% by 2030.
