PRODUCTION OF VETERINARY IMMUNOBIOLOGICAL PRODUCTS IN RUSSIA INCREASED BY 73% IN A YEAR

Domestic biopharmaceutical companies have significantly increased the production of veterinary drugs and expanded their product range in recent years.
In 2024, Russia produced 32.4 billion doses of immunobiological drugs for veterinary medicine. The figure was 73% higher than in 2023. In the first quarter of this year, the volume of vaccine production amounted to 6.3 billion doses, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported. The ministry linked the increase in the production of veterinary drugs to the development of new vaccines and drugs, as well as the modernization of production.
The Ministry of Agriculture added that Russia uses domestic vaccines against especially dangerous and major economically significant animal diseases, including rabies, anthrax, brucellosis, and leptospirosis. The Ministry annually purchases and supplies about 73 types to the regions.
At the same time, Russian companies are increasingly replacing imported veterinary drugs and increasing domestic production. Thus, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, in the first quarter of this year, the production of rabies vaccines for dogs and cats increased by 26.4% compared to the same period in 2024. As of April 1, state veterinary services in the regions had 3.3 million doses of vaccines for preventive and forced immunization of dogs and cats against this disease.
Earlier, RNC Pharma reported that the top ten manufacturers of veterinary drugs occupied 73% of the natural volume of the Russian retail market, providing sales dynamics at the level of 26% in the first 3 months of 2025. At the same time, the top 10 corporations leading in natural sales on the Russian market were mainly domestic manufacturers, with only three foreign companies on the list.
